Finish the job with BAUCO Access Panels

When it comes to a great finish, nobody beats BAUCO. Our drywall access panels are virtually invisible, with a narrow perimeter gap, and will blend into any surface.

We offer four models of drywall access panels in various standard and custom sizes, and they can be finished to match any surroundings. Because these access panels install on the same plane as the surrounding surface and incorporate the same materials, the finish is continuous, whether it be paint, wallpaper, or plaster veneer. Likewise, thanks to our free pivot hinge, the BAUCO Plus II can handle facing applications such as tile, millwork, and stone, without large reveals, visible hardware, or risk of binding during operation. 

Our customer Ben Chasin of Couture Interior Design recently called on BAUCO for help with a private residence in the Olympic Tower, New York City. In recent years, the building had received an upgrade for its HVAC system, which resulted in clunky, vented sheet metal access doors installed onto tile walls throughout the apartment. In 2023 Ben was asked to modernize the space, with the access panel improvement being front and center.

PROBLEM

Couture Interior Design needed panels custom sized with frame modifications to fit flush into existing openings and also be finished to blend into the surrounding surface of 16 x 16” tile. The existing opening dimensions were varied and did not match with industry standard sizes.

SOLUTION

Because the BAUCO XL is fully customizable, we were able to build the frames to the exact dimensions of the existing openings. The five BAUCO XLs installed flush and frameless into the existing surface, and once installed, were faux finished by Couture to match the surrounding tile. The BAUCO Air grille was inset into the door, also flush and frameless. (The top register and thermostat were also subsequently changed to match.)
